Becoming an honorary Parishioner |
At Nikola Mokry all are welcome, none are ever turned away so please visit us if you can. Our congregation is our strength and our future, and although not rich in money terms, we are rich in spirit. |
Poverty in Russia is a serious problem, and although it may not make the international news headlines, it is still there, and the main sufferers are the elderly. Old people in Russia, especially those living on their own, have a difficult time surviving, but add a disability to the equation and it makes their survival virtually impossible. It is not just because Russia doesn't have the healthcare infrastructure to help them, their meagre pensions condemn the vast majority to living on a diet consisting mostly of cabbage soup with a little black bread, or buckwheat porridge. It is therefore no surprise that malnutrition is a major factor in their lives. At Nikola Mokry we do what we can with what we have, by providing hot meals in the winter to our congregation. But we cannot reach those in the greatest need, those whose disablity traps them in their homes because they are too infirm to walk on ice and snow. We estimate that we will need at least £3,500 per year to operate an outreach programme to bring help to those in most need. |
Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated as it would enable us help those in most need. Please join us as an honorary parishioner and click on the donate button below to make this winter more bearable for those in your new parish less fortunate than you. |
